MINECRAFT / FROM IDEA TO BUILD

Match the colors the map actually shows.

Convert a picture into a flat 128×128 map-art build using concrete blocks and their Java map colors.

How to use this tool

01

Prepare a square image

The converter crops to the central square and produces one 128×128 map. Choose your available concrete colors.

02

Check the map preview

Generate with map colors, then adjust details. Map art stays fully filled, so terrain cannot show through empty cells.

03

Build and update the map

Set an aligned north-west origin, build the helper row and flat surface, then explore the full unzoomed map while holding it.

Frequently asked questions

Which type of map art is supported?

A single, flat, scale-0 Java 1.21.1 map: 128×128 image blocks plus a 128-block north helper row. Only sixteen concrete colors are offered. Staircases, water shades and multi-map layouts are not included.

Why do these colors differ from the block-art tool?

Maps store a separate map color. A flat opaque surface uses the normal brightness multiplier, 220/255. Matching texture RGB instead would give an incorrect map preview.

Where should I build it?

Use the Overworld. X and Z at the north-west corner must equal -64 plus a multiple of 128. Keep all image blocks and the north helper row at the chosen Y. Activate an unzoomed map near the reported center.

Why is there a helper row?

Map shading compares a block height with the position to its north. The extra row, just outside the map image, establishes the same height for the first image row. Both the counts and placements export include it separately.

How do I get the finished image in game?

Do not zoom the map. Keep the surface unobstructed, build the full flat image and helper row, then walk across the map area while holding the map so all pixels update. The preview assumes no overlying blocks, snow or other interference.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Editing, image conversion and file export happen in your browser. Save a JSON project before clearing browser data or changing devices.
