BEFORE YOU START

A counted-stitch chart, made from your own photo.

Make a keepsake from a portrait, pet photo or simple illustration. This studio maps your image to a DMC reference palette and gives you a full-cross-stitch chart you can edit before printing.

BEST FOR

Photo keepsakes, small hoop designs and counted cross stitch.

READ THE GRID

One square is one full cross stitch.

THE KEY SETTING

Stitch dimensions, color count and Aida fabric count.

From idea to a useful chart

01

Choose a clear subject

Crop your photo before uploading. Start with a simple background and a subject that remains recognizable at a small size.

02

Balance detail and effort

Try a smaller stitch grid and fewer colors first. Increase them only when important features disappear.

03

Clean up and keep a copy

Use Brush, Fill and color replacement to tidy the chart. Save the editable JSON project, then export a printable PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Does a larger chart make the finished piece bigger?

At the same Aida count, yes. Stitch dimensions set the number of crosses. Fabric count determines how much space those crosses occupy.

Are the DMC colors exact?

The studio uses 377 DMC reference colors. Screen swatches are approximate and the set is not the complete DMC catalogue. Check physical floss before purchasing.

Can I use half stitches or backstitch?

This version supports full cross stitches only. Half stitches, backstitch and specialty stitches are not included.

What does Save project download?

An editable JSON file containing your chart, palette and settings. Open project restores it. PNG and PDF are output files and cannot be reopened as editable projects.

Are my photos uploaded?

Image processing happens in your browser. Local drafts stay in that browser and can disappear if you clear its storage, so keep a downloaded project file.
